Expandable Beginning

In this series, a pulsating and liberating energy is inscribed in the drawings through elements of a common symbology. The abstract pictorial forms stand out from a flat background, where the energy of the gesture is expressed by marks, deviations, overlaps and alternations that multiply.

These gestures often describe movements, rhythms and repetitions that mark an event, a memory that emerges as a visual inventory of a sensitive experience. This series pronounces my first forays into the field of performance, where the body itself begins to gain importance. Increasingly, the drawings become traces of the body's actions, a record of the expenditure of physical energy, through the amplitude and fluidity of the gesture.

As with "écriture automatique", associated with the Surrealist movement in the early 20th century, in an attempt to access the unconscious and reveal deep thoughts, images and emotions through writing, where language takes on unexpected and symbolic forms, these drawings reflect on creative expression that transcends the limitations of logic and reason. There is no gap between the sketch and the final execution: the drawing is a record of an immediate physical act. This disengagement from the restraints and mimicry of perceptible forms also expresses a desire and search for freedom, authenticity and spontaneity.
